Women’s World Day of Prayer

Young people, men and women from all churches in the Woburn Sands area are invited to join us in a service involving participants from St. Botolph’s, St Mary’s, St. Michael’s and Woburn Sands Methodist Churches. This year the service will be held at 6.30 pm on Friday 2 March at St. Botolph’s Church in Aspley Guise.

Celebrating with and joining together to pray for the issues raised by Christians across the globe provides a focus for a world-wide Day of Prayer held in more than 170 countries on the first Friday in March each year. While the service is organised and led by women, the themes are inclusive and involve everyone.

This year the Women’s World Day of Prayer service has been designed by women from Malaysia and focuses on the challenges they face in achieving justice. Our speaker this year is Ruth Walker Singh, who is a Preacher on the Methodist circuit in Milton Keynes and has family connections with, and regularly visits, Malaysia. In reflecting on injustices in Malaysian society we can also reflect on the injustices in our own society and the part we are challenged to play as Christians to further legal, political and social justice in our own context.

Please contact me if you would like to play a part in preparing for our service this year.
